Albert Ernest Lingerfeldt

Albert Ernest Lingerfeldt, age 68, of York, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Albert lived a full life marked by hard work, a passion for mechanics, and a deep devotion to his family. He dedicated many years to the monument industry, where he honed his skills in craftsmanship and precision until his well-deserved retirement.

Albert’s true joy came from his love of drag racing and building high-performance race engines. He spent countless hours in the garage, fine-tuning motors and sharing his expertise with fellow enthusiasts, always eager to talk shop or lend a hand.

He is survived by his loving children, James Lingerfelt and his wife Amber, Josh Lingerfelt and his wife Stephanie, Susan Lingerfelt and Rick.

He is also survived by his brothers, Donald Lingerfelt & David Lingerfelt and his sisters, Katina Greene & Barbara Lingerfelt.

Albert was a proud grandfather to Alexis Lingerfelt, Darryn “DJ” Guilford, Emilia Galan, Alyvia Lingerfelt, Jordan Galan, Joshua Lingerfelt, Owen Lingerfelt, Shyla Neal, Ricky Neal And Paisley Neal.

He was also blessed with one great-grandchild, MJ Wanger, who brought him immense joy. 

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Lingerfeldt and Betty Lingerfelt; his wife, Dorothy Meredith Lingerfeldt and his sister, Evelyn Brown.

A man of quiet strength and mechanical ingenuity, Albert will be remembered for his laughter, his infectious enthusiasm for racing, and the unwavering love he showed his family. His legacy lives on in the engines he built, the races he raced, and the generations he cherished. 

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by the family. 

The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who offered support during this difficult time. Albert’s memory will forever rev in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
