John David Adkins

Mr. John David Adkins, 70 of York South Carolina passed away on September 7, 2024 after a tough battle with Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS).  He was surrounded by family and friends his last few days of his precious life.  

David was born on January 3, 1954 to Margaret Thrift Adkins and David Lyle Adkins in York,SC. 

On August 4, 1972 David married Carol Elaine Adkins, they lived a wonderful loving life together during their marriage. Anyone could tell they were best friends. They were the perfect team on any project, big or small. Together they had one child, Tammy McCann. But all who knew them knew they helped raise many children through their lifetime together.

David was a beautiful soul, a man of his word and a hard worker.  He could do anything he set his mind to especially with his best friend Ricky Beckham as his side kick and helper.  David worked as a CNC Machinists for many years before retiring.  He was the best husband, brother, friend, daddy and paw anyone could ever ask for.  He was willing to help anyone if they needed help.  In the last few years Danny Anderson and David became close friends working on cars, houses and going to car shows together.  

David will be missed by many people from family to friends and all who had the pleasure of spending time with him. 

John leave behind loving memories with his wife of 52 years, Carol E. Adkins; daughter, Tammy McCann; granddaughter, Alayna Tester 21 of York, SC; great granddaughter, Malaya Tester; David is also survived by his 2 sisters, Diane Wyatt and Christine (Robbie) Evans.

He is reunited in eternity with his parents Margaret Thrift Adkins and David Lyle Adkins.     

The family will be having celebration of Life ceremony on September 16, 2024 from 6-8 at Timber Raille 122A North Congress Street York SC 29745.  Please come by and share your memories and stories with the family.  

In Lieu of flowers the family would as that donate blood or money to American Red Cross or One Blood.  Both of these organizations help prolong David’s life in the end.
