July 23, 1945 ~ January 13, 2024 (age 78) 78 Years Old

John Blackman Obituary

John Loring Blackman was retired from his career as a senior claims adjuster. He served as Cub Master and Assistant Scout Master for over 40 years. He was a gifted storyteller and was dubbed John "Too-Tall Tales" Blackman by his Boy Scouts peers. 

John was born on July 23, 1945 he was the beloved son of Robert "Bob" and Genevieve "Bea" Blackman of Charlotte, North Carolina. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Melinda Isley Blackman and son, John Blackman, Jr. 

John leaves loving memories with his four sons, Matt (Michelle) Blackman, Derek (Paula) Blackman, Jared Blackman and Adam (Jessica), nine grandchildren Courtney (Erian), Chandler Hull,  Ryan (Sarah) Hull, Bailey, Zachary, Hailey, Connor, Wesly and Laura; sisters, Brenda (Neal) Nichols and Nancy Parsons; nephews, Bruce (Carol), Charles (Christina) McCormick, Robie Bryant and niece Angie (Doug) Brown.

John was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and he proudly served in his community in Boy Scouts. He was also a gun enthusiast and loved going to the range with his sons. He was a devoted husband to his wife Melinda (His Angel), a loving father to his children and a friend to all he met. 

On January 13, 2024 he transitioned quietly into eternity surrounded by his family and friends. 

John L. Blackman will forever be loved and deeply missed.  

His family and friends will celebrate his life 2:00p Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at First Baptist Church 102 S. Congress Street in York South Carolina, he will have a public viewing at the church beginning at 1:00p.
